Colin R Tribe

Colin is a musician - teacher, performer, arranger, composer, examiner and lately a self confessed Ukeholic. Whilst devising a Victoria College of Music Syllabus for Self-Accompanied Singing, which included a set of books for Ukulele players, he developed an addiction for the instrument and so decided to create an exam for Ukulele players who wanted to develop melodic skills in addition to those of accompanying. This is now published as “Uniquelele” by Victoria College www.vcmexams.com and the first entrant was in December2009, a Grade 3 who passed with a distinction! There are now many teachers and students working towards the exams here in the UK & Ireland and as far away as Malaysia, Toronto, San Francisco and Australia. Here is a comment from a guitar teacher now rapidly changing to being a ukulele one! “I must say what a brilliant job Colin Tribe has done with the Ukulele syllabus and how good it is that it can

now be examined at every level”.

Music in Miniature

A main facet of the addiction is a compulsion to arrange all kinds of music for the Ukulele. There is a Youtube channel, www.youtube.com/colinrtribe which has over 100 Fingerstyle Ukulele arrangements and at least another 200 arrangements already prepared in the Music &Tab format. These are being e-mailed as free PDF files all over the world and a CD of the first 100 files is also available for £10.

“Uniquelele!”

This is a 60 page tutor on the Uniquelele style of playing for £10 as a PDF file. It contains graded arrangements and exercises as well as five pieces with Study Notes and a section on how I arrange music for the ukulele. Order it together with the DVD that demonstrates the material for £20 including p&p.

Study Notes

Choose any 4 songs from Youtube and get a PDF of study notes and a DVD 10-15 minute Tutorial on each song. Left and Right hand techniques are described and there is a musical analysis. £15 per DVD.

Lessons

Via Skype - £15 for half an hour. They can cover work from the Uniquelele book or the VCM Exam syllabus or any of the Arrangements that I have already done on YouTube or ones you would like to see and hear done!

Exam Study Notes & Tutorial DVD’s

Book 1 - Grades A-D and Book - Grades 1-3 £15 each including p&p of DVD. Other Grades in preparation.

Workshops, Group Lessons

After doing a successful series of workshops for Faber Books based on their Playlist Books you can book Colin for your school/club/orchestra/group of friends to do similar workshops where half a dozen songs are taught in a 2 hour session. Also available are advanced workshops on Fingerstyle playing and arranging as Colin did at the Ukulele Festival of Great Britain this June in Cheltenham. Fees by arrangement.

Comments from satisfied customers.

“I started reading/working on the book tonight...So far I am very happy!...I own tons of books about

ukulele and yours is outstanding!...The ideas are clear and the examples are illustrative!..”.

“Must say the DVD really helps one get through the tricky stuff and makes them less so.”

“The revised Uniquelele book looks great! I think it has everything I need to improve my fingerstyle

arrangements”
