Colin R Tribe

Musician

Teacher, arranger, performer, composer, examiner and a self confessed Ukeholic.

Whilst developing a syllabus for Self-Accompanied Singing, (which now includes a set of books for Ukulele players), I developed an addiction for the instrument and was able, with VCM,  to create an exam for Ukulele players who wanted to develop melodic skills in addition to those of accompanying. This is now published up to Diploma Level by Victoria College of Music www.vcmexams.com and there are now many teachers and students taking the exams in the UK & Ireland and as far away as Malaysia, Toronto, San Francisco and Australia.

Comments

“I started reading/working on the book tonight...So far I am very happy!...I own tons of books about

ukulele and yours is outstanding!...The ideas are clear and the examples are illustrative!..”.

“Must say the DVD really helps one get through the tricky stuff and makes them less so.”

“The revised “Uniquelele” book looks great! I think it has everything I need to improve my fingerstyle

arrangements”

“I must say what a brilliant job Colin Tribe has done with the Ukulele syllabus and how good it is that it can now be examined at every level”.

Suitable for anyone working in education, childcare workers, out of school club leaders, parents and grandparents who want to learn how to teach the ukulele and singing to children. Beginning with just one chord, and various actions songs, clapping songs and musical games, you will build your confidence to lead a ukulele club or whole class ukulele and singing lesson. Learning will be aural and visual and you do not need to be able to read music, but you will look at how to read chord boxes, tablature and how notation for ukulele works. Course includes a copy of the UKEandSing book and CD. You will need to bring a soprano ukulele.

Sue Snell is a musician and music educationalist with a wide experience of teaching groups in both singing and instrumental work, and in running training for teachers with or without a music background.

UKEandSing is ideal for whole class music making at KS2/3 through singing and playing the ukulele, including for Wider Opportunities teaching. The course progresses from songs using a single chord and simple finger picking, through to songs using two or three chords and different strumming methods. Songs include rounds, nonsense songs, sea shanties, partner songs, action songs, clapping games, Tudor songs, which are all featured on the accompanying play-along CD in a variety of funky styles. There are cross curricular links throughout making this a valuable resource for topic based learning at KS2.
